Get in the MIIX – Melbourne Intermodal & Industrial Exchange (MIIX) launches to market
Barings Real Estate Australia, together with our valued partners Aware Real Estate, Aware Super and special guest the Hon. Minister Danny Pearson- Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, officially launched the Melbourne Intermodal & Industrial Exchange (MIIX) at Canvas House, South Melbourne.
Aware Super’s $1.6 billion investment in a 99-hectare industrial estate in Melbourne’s North, which also houses the nations first privately funded open-access intermodal freight terminal will be generating a total of over 2,000 jobs and unlocking further value to the Victorian economy and national supply chain.
MIIX is owned and managed by Aware Real Estate, Aware Super’s direct property platform in Australia, and developed in partnership with Barings.
MIIX is located in the core infill suburb of Somerton, 20 km north of the Melbourne CBD, 10km Northeast of Tullamarine Airport and 16km north of the Port of Melbourne. It is also connected to major transport infrastructure and prominent transport nodes including the Port Rail Shuttle Network and the Inland Rail Freight Corridor. The total development site area encompasses c.370,000 sqm with the first development site ready for completion early 2026.
